Project:Support Services Scheduler
Problem
The volume of home care visit scheduling at Lethbridge Family Services was increasing to an amount that was no longer feasible for one employee to handle. The task was soon designated to four individuals, each using paper binders to track the visits. Because there was no central database of scheduled visits, and because it was imperative that no visit be missed, staff were being double and triple booked almost daily.
Our Solution
To address the overbooking and scheduling issues, we created an easy to use but powerful scheduling system that met the needs of the Family Services Centre. We created their original DOS-based system in 1994, and updated it to a Windows-based, powerful SQL Server database in 2002. The system is currently being used by 30 employees, and scheduling over 27,000 visits per month.

Project:Order Tracking System
Problem
The Coverall Shop was running into issues tracking the progress of their product. When a customer would call in inquiring about an order, they would often have to speak with several staff in different departments before determining the status. Whether the orders were ahead of schedule or were falling behind was mostly guesswork
Our Solution
We created a simple system that allowed each department to update the status of each order. Now the status of any order can immediately be looked up on the computer. A status screen was also created to show the real-time count of “on time”, “due soon”, “due”, “past due” and “back-ordered”. This allows the staff to gauge where their overall progress is.

Problem
A local developer started a system to track service orders, inventory and purchases. The developer had taken full-time employment elsewhere and was unable to continue the development of the system. After a review of the existing development, it was determined that the majority of the system was usable.
Our Solution
Ax Computer Consulting took over development of the system, which has now been vastly expanded. We increased the form quantity from 20 to 250, and changed the underlying database from an Access database to a SQL Server database. The existing forms remain, with improvements made to work with the new, more powerful database. Enhancements and expansion of the system are still on-going.

Problem
Control Technology had been maintaining their data on outdated systems, including spreadsheets and paper forms. An all-at-once switch to new systems was not something that they wanted to take on.
Our Solution
Ax Computer Consulting implemented a new system to start replacing the previous antiquated and inefficient system. As each module was completed, tested and implemented, the old methods were shut down. This allowed the company to learn the new system one module at a time. The expansion of the system still continues.

About Mike Axworthy

As an avid programmer, owner and operator Mike Axworthy has a been working with computers since his high school days.

Mike chose to study programming at SAIT due to the challenging and thorough courses they offered in the field. After graduating, he worked in corporate IT services. In 1993, Mike started his consulting business, determined to offer continual support to his clients. He values the long term relationships that he builds with his customers, providing great support and aftercare to each one.

Still offering the highest quality software and service, Mike has persevered in his resolve to ensure no customer goes without support. He is passionate about his work, his customers and the community he lives in. As the Former president of the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce, owner and operator Mike Axworthy has strong ties to local business in the area.
